A 24-year-old Bangladeshi student has died under mysterious circumstances at his university hostel in Paris, France, triggering deep grief and concern among the local expatriate community.

The deceased, Mahadeb Ghosh, was a first-year MBA student at the Paris Business School.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, comes closely on the heels of the shocking deaths of Bangladeshi students Jamil and Brishti in the United States, which had already left the nation in mourning.

According to sources, Mahadeb hailed from the Katalagari Bazar area under Shailkupa upazila in Jhinaidah district. He was the son of Shamal Kumar Ghosh, a retired government official, and Sagordipa Ghosh Roy.

The university’s student coordinator, Emily, first notified Ashraf Islam—a family friend and prominent member of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in France—about the death over the phone.

Confirming the matter to the media, Ashraf Islam said French police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, classifying the death as "mysterious."

"The police have sent Mahadeb's body to a hospital in Paris's 92nd department (Hauts-de-Seine) for an autopsy. We are expecting the forensic report to be released around May 11," Ashraf said.

He added that the exact cause of death remains unknown, and local authorities are working to uncover the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
