A moving microbus caught fire in a busy area of Farmgate in the capital on Wednesday morning, causing brief panic among pedestrians and commuters.
The incident occurred suddenly in front of the Ananda Cinema Hall when the vehicle went up in flames.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot shortly after receiving the news and brought the blaze under control.
According to preliminary findings by the Fire Service, the fire was originated due to a mechanical fault.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this connection.
However, goods worth around Tk5 lakh inside the vehicle were completely burnt.
