Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Masud Alam has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chattogram district.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official notification regarding his transfer on Tuesday (May 5).
Md. Masud Alam, widely known to the public as “DC Masud,” previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Ramna Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He completed his studies at the University of Dhaka and later joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadre.
During his career in the police force, he has been recognized for his bravery and service, receiving the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM).
Before this new appointment, he was serving as DC of Ramna Division in DMP. During his tenure, he experienced both praise and criticism. Notably, his role in handling the New Market incident in Dhaka and various student clashes drew significant media attention. In some instances, students of Dhaka University also staged protests demanding his removal.
