A major operation conducted by the Bangladesh Navy in Teknaf has resulted in the recovery of a large quantity of illegal drugs and firearms buried beneath the soil of a brickfield, along with the arrest of a fugitive suspect.

The operation took place from early Monday morning until around 9:00 AM in the Alikhali area of Hnila Union under Teknaf Upazila. The seized items included five kilograms of crystal meth (commonly known as “ice”), 100,000 yaba tablets, two foreign-made pistols, as well as ammunition and other related equipment.

The arrested individual has been identified as Nurul Kabir, who was reportedly wanted in multiple cases.

Lieutenant Commander Md. Shahriar of the Teknaf Naval Contingent confirmed the matter at noon. He stated that the recovered drugs, firearms, ammunition, and the arrested suspect have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for legal proceedings.

According to the Navy, the drugs and weapons had been secretly buried beneath the soil of the brickfield in the Hnila area. The operation was conducted based on confidential intelligence.
Officer-in-Charge Md. Saiful Islam said that the process of filing a case in connection with the incident is currently underway.

Earlier, in a separate operation conducted from the night of April 27 until early Monday morning in the Phuler Dail area of the same union, the Navy recovered two G-3 rifles, one M-16 rifle, eight magazines, 190 rounds of live ammunition, 10 empty shells, and 28,000 yaba tablets, which had also been buried underground.

Authorities believe these operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal arms smuggling in the coastal region.
