A views exchange meeting was held May 19, 2026, at the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Headquarters at Laldighi Par, between CMP Commissioner Mr. Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali and the REHAB Chattogram Regional Committee.

The REHAB delegation was led by REHAB Vice President and Chairman of the Chattogram Regional Committee, Mr. Mohammad Morshedul Hasan.

During the meeting, various issues, challenges, and prospects related to the housing sector were discussed in detail. REHAB proposed the formation of a joint committee comprising representatives from REHAB and the police to help resolve disputes involving REHAB members, landowners, and buyers. The leaders also requested that complaints related to such disputes be referred to REHAB’s Mediation and Customer Care Committee before being formally accepted at police stations.

REHAB leaders highlighted that many unauthorized and non-member developers in Chattogram are operating without following government regulations and, in some cases, are deceiving customers. As a result, the reputation of REHAB is being affected unfairly. They sought administrative support in this regard and proposed the formation of a joint monitoring cell between CMP and REHAB.

REHAB Director and Co-Chairman-2 of the Chattogram Regional Committee, Mr. A S M Abdul Gaffar Miajy, stated that developers often face harassment from landowners and influential groups during project implementation, causing financial losses and social embarrassment. He requested administrative assistance to address such issues.

Speaking at the meeting, CMP Commissioner Mr. Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali praised REHAB’s contribution to addressing the country’s housing challenges and its social activities. He assured that necessary instructions would be given to all police stations to prioritize and resolve issues faced by REHAB members. He also directed CMP to assign a dedicated officer to coordinate and address REHAB-related matters. At the same time, he urged REHAB representatives to ensure timely construction activities in compliance with the law.

Among others present at the meeting were DC (Sadar) and newly promoted Additional DIG Mr. Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, BPM, along with REHAB Chattogram Regional Committee members Mr. Hrishikesh Chowdhury, Mr. Syed Irfanul Alam, Mr. Nur Mohammad, and Mr. Ashish Roy Chowdhury.
