Govt working to improve facilities for fire service members: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the government is working to enhance facilities for the Fire Service personnel.

He also said in the context of a possible earthquake risk, strengthening the Fire Service and improving coordination with other forces is essential.

The Home Minister made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Fire Service Week held in Purbachal, Dhaka.

Salahuddin Ahmed noted that Fire Service members consistently respond to people in times of all disasters and emergencies.

He said the government is working to provide them with international-standard training, increase manpower, and improve their overall facilities.

On the occasion, more than 250 new members formally joined the force after passing out training. Among them, nine foundational trainees were awarded medals by the minister.

In addition, 20 personnel received medals for their outstanding contribution to national bravery. A further 138 members will receive awards for their service over the past three years.
