The government has appointed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief and Additional Inspector General of Police Mosleh Uddin Ahmed as the new commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
A gazette notification in this regard was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday.
According to the notification, Additional IGP Mosleh Uddin has been transferred from the CID and appointed as the DMP commissioner.
The order, issued in the public interest, takes immediate effect, it added.
Mosleh Uddin was appointed as additional IGP of the CID on 16 March and assumed office on 25 March.
He is an officer of the 15th batch of the Bangladesh Police and one of the most senior serving officers in the rank of additional IGP.
Before serving as CID chief, he worked as additional IGP (logistics) at the Police Headquarters.
During his career, Mosleh Uddin served in the DMP and Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) and worked as superintendent of police (SP) in Kushtia, Bhola, and Sherpur districts.
He also served as a police officer in the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur.
On Thursday, acting DMP commissioner Md Sarwar retired from government service after completing his tenure.
