A female student of the University of Chittagong was injured after a stone was thrown at a moving shuttle train on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place around 5:00 PM in the Chattogram Cantonment area.
The injured student, Israat Fatema, is from the Accounting Department of the 2022–23 academic session.
According to reports, the train was passing through the cantonment area when a stone thrown from outside hit her on the forehead, leaving her seriously injured and bleeding heavily. Due to excessive blood loss, she nearly lost consciousness as the train approached Fatehabad Station. Fellow students quickly brought her down from the train and arranged immediate medical assistance.
A classmate, Munmun, said that some local boys were playing in nearby open fields after the cantonment area. As the train passed, stones were thrown from there, and one struck Israat on the head. She later became unconscious near Fatehabad.
Dr. Farhana Yasmin, the duty doctor at the CU Medical Center, said the student was brought in with a head injury. A stitch was given to the wound, and she was advised to remain under observation for 24 hours due to blood loss and physical weakness.
