Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) came under attack while conducting a drive in Narayanganj today.
Two members of the elite force were injured in the attack that took place around 2:00pm in Boalia Khal, Masdair area of the city, Rab-11 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel HM Sazzad Hossain told reporter.
“Details on how and by whom the attack was carried out will be provided later,” he said.
However, Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mahbub Alam said three Rab personnel were injured in the attack. One of them was in critical condition and had been sent to Dhaka for treatment, while the other two were receiving treatment in Narayanganj, he added.
Asked for further details, the police official said, “Rab is a separate agency. They can provide the details of the operation. We do not have much information on this.”
A large number of Rab personnel, along with a police team, were seen at the scene following the incident.
