A day-long research workshop was held today (May 5) at the conference room of the Faculty of Business Administration, organized by the Research Management and Publication Office of the University of Chittagong.
The workshop was inaugurated at 10:00 AM by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan, who attended as the chief guest. Special guests included the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, and the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that university teachers are not only educators but also researchers. He highlighted that research is a fundamental responsibility alongside academic activities and plays a crucial role in establishing a teacher’s professional identity. He noted that the university’s reputation largely depends on the quality and impact of research conducted by its faculty. He encouraged teachers to engage in meaningful, high-quality research that benefits society and expressed hope that the workshop would enhance participants’ skills and interest in research.
In his remarks, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan stressed that teaching and research are the primary responsibilities of university faculty. He added that the core function of a university is to generate new knowledge through research and urged faculty members to dedicate more time to their departments and research activities.
The session was moderated by the Chairman of the Marketing Department, Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir. Additional remarks were delivered by Dean Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman. The event was chaired by the Director of the Research Management and Publication Office, Professor Dr. Tanvir Mohammad Haider Arif.
Among the invited guests were Professor Dr. Mohammad Saleh Jahur and the Proctor of the university, Professor Dr. Hossain Shahid Sarwarwardy. Members of the Research Management and Publication Office, faculty members from various departments, and trainees were also present at the workshop.
