Collected Photo Triathlete and World Ironman Championship participant Sajjad Hossain alleged that police stopped him from entering the Farmgate Metro Rail station on Sunday because he was wearing shorts.Sajjad said he was heading to Bijoy Sarani after completing a training session at Ramna Park when police stopped him at the station.
‘They said I cannot travel wearing half-pants. But I kept insisting. After 40 minutes, when I refused to budge, they spoke to higher authorities and allowed me to travel,’ he said.
Sajjad said he lodged a complaint at the station but was not provided with a copy of it.

Facebook post, Sajjad said a police officer stopped him as he was about to enter the station and questioned his attire, describing it as ‘obscene.’
He said he repeatedly asked the officers to show him the rule prohibiting passengers from wearing shorts on the Metro Rail but received no satisfactory explanation.
According to Sajjad, a fitness trainer by profession, the officers also took photographs of him and continued to question him despite his explaining that he was an athlete on his way to another training session.
Sajjad further alleged that a Metro Rail official told him that wearing such clothes ‘doesn't suit Bangladesh.’
The incident prompted Sajjad to question whether there is any specific dress-code provision preventing passengers from travelling on the Metro Rail while wearing shorts.
He said he decided to speak publicly about the incident because he found the treatment humiliating and inappropriate.
