An allegation has been made against a son for leaving his sick and helpless elderly mother at a cattle market in Sarail, Brahmanbaria. The elderly woman told local residents that she had been subjected to physical and mental abuse for several days before being left at the market late at night.According to local residents and video footage, the woman was found lying on a concrete platform at the cattle market, using an old quilt and pillow. She appeared to be seriously ill and extremely weak.
Local residents said the woman’s late husband was named Nissho Roy. While speaking unclearly, she mentioned a son named “Farid” and alleged that he was the one who left her at the market.
After the incident came to light, local traders, residents and social workers came forward to help the elderly woman. They provided her with food, a blanket and temporary shelter and have been regularly checking on her.
Local residents have called for the woman’s identity and family to be traced and for her to be provided with safe shelter and necessary medical treatment. They also demanded an investigation into the allegation and appropriate legal action if the claim is found to be true.
