Collected PhotoThe price of gold in Bangladesh declined on Saturday with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association reducing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,690 a bhari to Tk 2,32,930, including value-added tax.
The revised price took effect at 10:00am on Saturday after the association issued a notification.
The latest reduction comes just a week after the BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by the same amount, Tk 1,690, to Tk 2,34,621 on September 19.
The association said that the latest adjustment followed changes in the local market price of refined gold.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold is set at Tk 2,22,490 a bhari, while 18-carat gold costs Tk 1,91,056 a bhari.
Gold produced through the traditional method has been priced at Tk 1,56,064 a bhari.
With Saturday’s revision, the BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 117 times so far this year, including 58 increases, 58 decreases and one adjustment related to VAT.
The association also decreased silver prices on Saturday.
A bhari of 22-carat silver now costs Tk 4,840, down from Tk 5,132 a week ago, including VAT.
The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver dropped to Tk 4,607, Tk 3,965 and Tk 3,032 per unit of bhari respectively.
BAJUS has revised silver prices 71 times this year, with 36 increases and 35 decreases.
