Police have arrested four people over the vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1, Dhaka.
The four - Sohel, 22, Jewel, 23, Jihad Hasan, 21, and Rabib, 20 - were arrested from the Mirpur area last night, said Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station.
The four initially admitted their involvement in the attack, the OC said, adding that they had been sent to court.
Police are conducting raids to arrest others involved in the incident, he added.
The attack took place around midnight on Thursday when more than 200 masked people, allegedly armed with locally made weapons, stormed the health centre and held two security guards hostage.
The attackers allegedly looted equipment, medicines, vaccines, cash and other belongings before demolishing the facility using heavy machinery.
The centre had one permanent building and three semi-permanent structures.
The vandalism was allegedly carried out under the banner of an organisation named “Sammana Dokandar Samabaya Samity Limited”.
Nasrin Akhtar, executive director of the Radda MCH-FP Centre, claimed that the incident caused losses of more than Tk 1 crore.
She filed a case with Shah Ali Police Station over the incident.
