Khalil Ahmed, the Divisional Commissioner of Barishal Division, has emphasized the need to intensify cleanliness activities, destroy mosquito breeding grounds, and increase public engagement to prevent dengue.
He made these remarks on Wednesday (September 23) afternoon while participating in a rally organized at the Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner's 'Peyara Chattar' (Guava Square) to raise public awareness and promote dengue prevention. Following the rally, leaflets containing awareness-raising information on dengue prevention were distributed among the general public.
The rally highlighted the importance of conducting regular cleanliness drives to curb the spread of dengue and removing stagnant water from households and surrounding areas. It also called for identifying and destroying mosquito breeding grounds and actively involving local residents in dengue prevention efforts.
Attendees at the rally included Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Momin Uddin, Superintendent of Police Merin Sultana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Kawsar Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Tauhidul Islam, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division and Municipal Administrator Julia Sukaina, Sadar Hospital Superintendent Dr. Masum Iftekhar, and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) S.M. Mehedi Hasan, along with various other officials from the district administration.
At the conclusion of the rally, citizens were urged to keep their homes, workplaces, and surrounding environments clean, alongside the government's ongoing dengue prevention initiatives.
