Bangladesh Railway has begun selling advance train tickets in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha, assuming the festival will be observed on 28 May. Tickets for the final day of Eid travel —27 May — will go on sale on Sunday. To facilitate passengers, all seat tickets will be sold entirely online.
Ticket sales for trains operating in the western region of Bangladesh Railway begin at 8:00am on Sunday (17 May), while tickets for trains operating in the eastern region will go on sale at 2:00pm.
According to the railway’s Eid operational plan, advance ticket sales for five days ahead of Eid are being conducted under special arrangements. Tickets for intercity trains scheduled for 23 May were sold on 13 May, for 24 May on 14 May, for 25 May on 15 May, and for 26 May on 16 May.
Under Bangladesh Railway’s policy, a passenger may purchase tickets only once for advance Eid travel and can buy a maximum of four tickets per transaction. Advance Eid travel tickets will not be refundable.
At passengers’ request, standing tickets equivalent to 25 percent of total train capacity (excluding higher-class seats) will be sold at station counters on the day of travel.
Meanwhile, ticket sales for 28, 29, and 30 May will depend on the sighting of the Eid moon.
