59,783 Bangladeshi pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia for Hajj

A total of 59,783 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far reached Saudi Arabia on 154 flights to perform the holy Hajj. 

Among them, 4,444 pilgrims traveled under the government management system. Meanwhile, 55,339 pilgrims reached Saudi Arabia under private arrangements.

The information was revealed in the daily bulletin issued on Saturday by the IT Help Desk of the Hajj Portal under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

According to the bulletin, 30,844 pilgrims traveled on 78 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while 20,080 traveled on 54 flights operated by Saudi Airlines. Another 8,859 pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia on 22 flights operated by Flynas Airlines.

Meanwhile, 16 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far during the Hajj journey. Among them, 12 were men and 4 were women. Of the deaths, 12 occurred in Makkah and 4 in Madinah.

Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia on May 26.

On April 18, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman officially inaugurated this year’s Hajj flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
