Bangladesh, France eye strong inter-parliamentary exchanges

French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid a courtesy call on Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad at his office in the Parliament on Sunday.

During the meeting, the French ambassador congratulated him on his election as Parliament speaker, said a press release.

They held cordial discussions on various issues concerning Bangladesh and France, including strengthening inter-parliamentary exchanges between the two countries.

They also discussed the ongoing reform agenda in Bangladesh.

The ambassador highlighted the common principles shared by the two countries, particularly their commitment to democracy, peace, and multilateralism.

He also praised Bangladesh for its significant contribution to UN peacekeeping missions.

Speaker Hafiz said that Bangladesh enjoys excellent relations with France and noted that France remains one of the leading destinations for Bangladeshi exports within the European Union framework.
