Dhaka University Assistant Proctor Shehreen Amin Monami resigned from her administrative post on Monday.
Her departure follows the recent resignation of the university’s Proctor, Prof Saifuddin Ahmed.
Monami confirmed her decision in a social media post on Monday morning, stating she has officially stepped down from her duties.
Reflecting on her seven-year teaching career across Bangladesh University of Professionals, Jagannath University, and Dhaka University, she noted that she had not initially sought administrative roles.
She accepted the position on 28 August 2024, after receiving a request from the then Proctor, Prof Saifuddin Ahmed. Monami described the appointment as a significant responsibility usually reserved for senior faculty members, viewing the role as an opportunity to serve the university and contribute to the vision of a new Bangladesh.
In her statement, Monami praised Prof Saifuddin Ahmed for his leadership, noting that she learned how to maintain patience and self-respect while managing volatile situations.
She highlighted his commitment to handling student matters with compassion and humanity despite the authority of the office.
