The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2026 are set to start across the country on Tuesday (21 April).

A total of 1,857,344 students are participating in this year’s exams. The examinations will begin with the Bangla First Paper.

The written exams will continue until 20 May and will be held every day starting at 10:00am. Practical exams will then be conducted from June 7 to June 14.

This year, more than 14 lakh 18 thousand candidates are under the nine general education boards. Over 300,000 candidates are taking the Dakhil exams under the Madrasa Education Board, and more than 134,000 students are participating under the Technical Education Board. The exams will be held at a total of 3,885 centers across the country.

According to statistics, among the total candidates, 930,305 are male and 927,039 are female. Compared to last year, the number of candidates has decreased by approximately 71,626.

According to the exam structure, each subject will first have a multiple-choice (MCQ) section followed by a creative or written section (except for Information and Communication Technology). There will be no break between the two parts.

The time allocated is 30 minutes for the MCQ section and 2 hours and 30 minutes for the creative section.

According to the education board’s instructions, candidates must enter the examination center at least 30 minutes before the exam begins. They must bring their admit card and keep it safe. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited during the exam. Folding the answer script is not allowed, and students must correctly fill in their roll number, registration number, and subject code on the OMR form.

Additionally, only general non-programmable scientific calculators are allowed in the exam. Students cannot take part in any subject not listed on their registration form.

Each student must pass separately in the multiple-choice, creative, and practical sections. If a student fails in any one part, they will be considered to have failed the entire subject.
