Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday urged law enforcement agencies to treat offenders as criminals rather than judging them by their political affiliations.
“Acts of corruption and terrorism should be viewed as crimes committed by individuals, not through the lens of political identity,” he said while addressing senior police officials at his office on the occasion of Police Week.
Describing the police force as “the mirror of the government”, the Prime Minister said the administration wants to transform the police into a truly people-friendly force.
He said building a prosperous, self-reliant and humane Bangladesh was not merely a slogan but a genuine goal of the government.
Calling on police personnel to act with greater responsibility in maintaining law and order, Tarique Rahman said the force must work sincerely to ensure public peace, security and stability across the country.
The Prime Minister also instructed law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant so that no one could become involved in communal violence or acts of sabotage.
