Prices of edible oil have been increased in the country following negotiations between traders and the commerce ministry.
With the fresh adjustment, the retail price of bottled soybean oil has been hiked by Tk6 to Tk195 a litre, up from Tk189, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association on Monday.
The revised prices will come into effect on Tuesday.
According to the decision, the price of unpackaged soybean oil has been increased by Tk8 to Tk177 a litre, while the price of palm oil will also rise to Tk163 a litre.
The decision to set new prices of soybean and palm oils was made following a meeting held between refiners and the commerce ministry officials at the secretariat, with Secretary Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.
After the meeting, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association announced the revised prices in a press release.
Following consultations with the commerce ministry, the prices of edible oil have been adjusted here in line with the international market, read the release.
Earlier, the price of bottled soybean oil was last hiked on 13 April.
