The retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplied by private companies has been reduced by Tk29 per 12kg cylinder for the month of October.
According to the new price announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday, a 12kg LPG cylinder will now cost Tk1,241, down from last month’s Tk1,270.
The revised rate will take effect from 6pm the same day.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said the new rate was set in light of recent international price adjustments. “We have reduced the price of LPG by Tk29 from the September rate of Tk1,270 per 12kg cylinder,” he told reporters.
This marks the third consecutive price cut in recent months. On 2 September, BERC lowered the price by Tk3 per cylinder, while in August, the price dropped by Tk91 to Tk1,273.
Earlier in June, the price of a 12kg cylinder was reduced by Tk28—from Tk1,431 to Tk1,403—followed by further reductions in July, when the 23kg cylinder price was slashed by Tk39. At that time, the 12kg cylinder was priced at Tk1,364.
In addition to LPG, autogas prices have also been adjusted periodically. In August, the price of autogas—used in motor vehicles—was brought down by Tk4.18 per litre to Tk58.28.
The BERC, which adjusts prices monthly based on global market trends, said the latest reduction aims to ease the burden on consumers amid fluctuating international energy prices.
