
Four more people have died from measles and related symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll since 15 March to 1,114, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said Friday.
The DGHS also reported 1,242 new cases showing symptoms of measles during the same period.
Three of the latest deaths involved people with measles symptoms in Dhaka division, while another person in the division died from confirmed measles.
Of the 1,114 deaths recorded nationwide since March 15, 102 were attributed to confirmed measles, while 1,012 involved patients who had shown symptoms of the disease.
Between March 15 and October 2, a total of 194,084 people had exhibited measles symptoms, while the disease had been confirmed in 21,623 cases.
Separately, 172,021 patients had been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles symptoms since March 15. Of those, 166,933 had recovered and been discharged, according to the DGHS.
