7 killed as bus hits CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh

Seven passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and several others injured after a bus hit the three-wheeler in Mymensingh on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 1:30pm on Friday in the Gandrapa area.
The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed.
According to eyewitnesses and police, a bus travelling from Jamalpur to Dhaka was passing along the bypass road when it ran over a moving CNG-run auto-rickshaw which was heading towards Muktagacha. The auto-rickshaw was completely mangled in the crash.
At least six people died on the spot, while the death toll later rose to seven.
Mohammad Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed the deaths.
He said police were heading to the scene after receiving the report, while a rescue team was also on its way.
He added that traffic on the road was disrupted following the accident. The identities of the deceased and the exact cause of the accident could not be immediately determined.
