Collected PhotoDhaka South City Corporation administrator Md Abdus Salam on Wednesday announced that long-distance buses currently operating from the Sayedabad Bus Terminal will be relocated to a new facility under construction at Kanchpur, with plans to inaugurate the terminal by December.
He made the remarks on Wednesday after inspecting the progress of the ongoing infrastructure construction work at the Kanchpur Bus Terminal, said a press release.
The DSCC administrator said, construction work on the Kanchpur terminal is being expedited to implement the prime minister's directives regarding the modernisation of Dhaka's traffic system.
He also stated that temporary sheds will be built in Kanchpur to relocate long-distance buses of 16 routes, including Chattogram, Sylhet, Cumilla, and Noakhali from Sayedabad. Permanent infrastructure will be developed at the Kanchpur site later.
A special shuttle service will be launched following talks with transport owners to assist passengers transiting between Kanchpur and Sayedabad, adding that land acquisition is underway to relocate the Gulistan Bus Terminal across the Buriganga.
