October 22, Thursday, is scheduled as a working day, followed by the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24.
A Public Administration Ministry official, wishing to remain unnamed, said a preliminary decision had been taken to declare October 22 a holiday through an executive order.
A proposal in this regard will be placed at the next Cabinet meeting. If approved, a notification will be issued declaring October 22 a holiday, the official said.
The official said government officials and employees would work on a subsequent Saturday holiday in lieu of the October 22 holiday. A proposal to this effect is being prepared, he added.
The final decision, however, rests with the Cabinet.
If approved, the arrangement will give government officials and employees a five-day break from October 20 to 24.
