Gold prices in Bangladesh fell further on Monday, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association reducing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,158 a bhari to Tk 230,772, including value-added tax.
The revised price came into effect at 10:00am on Monday, according to a BAJUS press release.
The latest reduction came just two days after BAJUS cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,690 a bhari on September 26, setting it at Tk 232,930.
BAJUS stated that the latest adjustment followed a decline in the local market price of refined gold.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold now costs Tk 220,391 a bhari, while 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 189,248 a bhari. Gold produced through the traditional method is now priced at Tk 154,256 a bhari.
With Monday’s revision, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 118 times so far this year—comprising 58 increases, 59 decreases, and one adjustment related to VAT.
The association also reduced silver prices. The price of 22-carat silver has been set at Tk 4,490 a bhari, including VAT. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional-method silver have been reduced to Tk 4,315, Tk 3,732, and Tk 2,799 a bhari, respectively.
BAJUS has revised silver prices 72 times this year, with 36 increases and 36 decreases.
