Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) and China's state-owned China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on sustainable rubber garden management and eco-friendly wood resource development.The MoU was signed at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka yesterday (23 September) in the presence of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Acting Secretary Dr Fahmida Khanam and Bangladesh Rubber Board Chairman and Additional Secretary Dr Nurun Nahar, according to the press release.
BFIDC Chairman Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul signed the agreement on behalf of the corporation, while CHMC Chief Representative Cheng Tingyu signed on behalf of the Chinese company.
The agreement, titled "Sustainable Rubber Garden Management and Eco-friendly Wooden Resource Development", is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two organisations in sustainable rubber garden management and environment-friendly development of wood resources.
Senior BFIDC and government officials were also present at the signing ceremony.
They included BFIDC Director (Planning and Development) and Joint Secretary Md Tofazzal Hossain, Director (Production and Commerce) and Joint Secretary Jahan Ara, General Manager (Audit) and Joint Secretary Md Hafizur Rahman, General Manager (Rubber) and Deputy Secretary Salehin Tanvir Gazi, and General Manager (Planning and Development) and Deputy Secretary Bibek Sarkar.
Also present were BFIDC Secretary and Deputy Secretary Nahida Barik, Manager (Planning and Development) Mahmuda Jesmin, Manager (Administration) AKM Humayun Kabir, Manager (Accounts) Fouzia Jafrin, and other officials of the Chinese organisation.
