File PhotoThe price of gold in Bangladesh rise again on Saturday, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,691 per bhari to Tk 2,34,621, including value-added tax.
The revised price took effect at 10:00am on Saturday after BAJUS issued a notification.
The association said the latest adjustment followed changes in the local market price of refined gold.
Under the new rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 2,24,065 per bhari, while 18-carat gold costs Tk 1,92,397 per bhari. Gold produced through the traditional method has been priced at Tk 1,57,172 per bhari.
The latest increase came just a week after BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,050 per bhari to Tk 2,32,930 on September 12.
Before that, the association cut the price by Tk 2,158 per bhari to Tk 2,31,880 on September 11.
It had also reduced the price by Tk 1,108 on September 9 to Tk 2,34,038 and by Tk 2,216 on September 6 to Tk 2,35,146.
BAJUS raised the price by Tk 5,482 per bhori on September 3 to Tk 2,37,362 after reducing it by Tk 4,374 on September 2 to Tk 2,31,880.
With Saturday’s revision, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 116 times so far this year, including 58 increases, 57 decreases and one adjustment related to VAT.
Meanwhile, the association also increased silver prices.
A bhari of 22-carat silver now costs Tk 5,132, including VAT. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver have been set at Tk 4,957, Tk 4,257 and Tk 3,207 per bhari respectively.
BAJUS has revised silver prices 70 times this year, with 36 increases and 34 decreases.
