The University of Dhaka (DU) and Eminence Associates for Social Development (EASD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and strengthen mental health research.
The MoU was signed on Monday (August 24, 2026) at the Treasurer’s Office of the University of Dhaka. DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and EASD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Md. Shamim Hayder Talukder signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Chairman (Acting) of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan was present at the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering at DU and EASD will jointly conduct research to identify and screen mental health issues among women before, during and after pregnancy.
The collaboration will also explore solutions, including tele-therapy, for mothers receiving treatment at the outpatient and inpatient departments of the Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH).
As part of the collaboration, the two organizations will undertake further research, program implementation and capacity-building initiatives. They will also organize seminars, knowledge-sharing events and conferences to disseminate research-based evidence and strengthen collaboration among relevant stakeholders.
The two institutions will share and publish research findings generated through the collaboration, with the aim of contributing to evidence-based approaches to maternal and mental healthcare.
