Bangladesh's Ministry of Education published the results of this year's SSC and equivalent examinations on Monday, with no students passing from 312 educational institutions.
Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the results at a press conference at the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education at about 10 a.m.
He said the average pass rate across the country's 11 education boards was 62.25%, while 1 lakh 16 thousand 676 students received GPA-5.
The pass rate in the Dhaka board was 71.63%, with 33,253 students receiving GPA-5. Rajshahi recorded a 63.67% pass rate, with 16,113 GPA-5s, while Jessore's pass rate was 66.27%, with 11,478 GPA-5s.
Cumilla recorded a 65.42% pass rate, with 9,814 GPA-5s, while Chittagong's pass rate was 59.48%, with 9,398 GPA-5s. Barisal recorded a 60.35% pass rate, with 2,778 GPA-5s.
The pass rate in Sylhet was 58.33%, with 3,836 students receiving GPA-5. Dinajpur recorded a 58.05% pass rate, with 13,639 GPA-5s, while Mymensingh's pass rate was 57.39%, with 5,700 GPA-5s.
Last year, the average pass rate across the 11 boards was 68.45%. The rate therefore fell by 6.2 percentage points this year, while the number of GPA-5 recipients decreased by 22,356.
The Madrasa Board recorded a 55.49% pass rate, with 6,716 students receiving GPA-5. The Technical Board recorded a 58.20% pass rate, with 3,951 GPA-5s.
