The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test in the case filed over the rape and murder of child Ramisa in the Pallabi area of the capital has been completed.
Investigators expect to submit the charge sheet to the court by tomorrow (24 May), depending on the availability of the report.
The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman of Pallabi Police Station, told local media on Saturday (23 May) that the DNA test had been completed. He said that if the report is received today, the charge sheet can be submitted in the case. He expressed hope that it would be filed by Sunday.
Meanwhile, the accused, who was arrested on 20 May, gave a confessional statement before the court on Wednesday (20 May). According to investigators, he stated that he had consumed yaba before the incident.
On that day, Aminul Islam Junaid recorded the accused’s confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and later ordered that he be sent to jail.
According to the confession cited by investigators, the accused described luring the child into a room and committing the crime. Investigators said he later attempted to conceal evidence before fleeing the scene. Authorities also stated that there was no prior enmity with the victim’s family.
The victim’s father, Abdul Hannan Molla, filed the case with Pallabi Police Station on 20 May. On the same day, police produced the accused and his wife before the court and submitted separate petitions regarding the investigation proceedings.
