Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has instructed the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to submit an investigation report within one week over the brutal rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in the capital’s Pallabi area.
The minister said on Thursday (21 May) that appropriate steps would be taken to ensure the trial of the case is completed as quickly as possible.
The seven-year-old victim, Ramisa Akter, was brutally murdered in a neighboring apartment in Pallabi, Mirpur, on Tuesday (19 May).
The main accused, Sohel Rana (34), gave a confessional statement before a court on Wednesday (20 May). In his statement, he reportedly admitted that the child was sexually assaulted and then killed.
He also said he attempted to dismember the body in an effort to conceal the crime and dispose of the evidence.
