The government is set to restore the traditional uniform of the police force as the one revised under the interim government is not suitable and has displeased the policemen, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday.
Teal green shirt for metropolitan police units and navy blue shirt for other units will be restored, replacing the current greyish or brownish shirts. Pants will be in the colour of Khakee dress, the home minister said while speaking at a briefing at the Secretariat.
A decision in principle has already been taken in this regard, following consultations with stakeholders and an application for reversal submitted by the police force, Salahuddin said. A formal notification is in the works but will take time for reasons including delays caused by new dress productions, he noted.
