Seventeen more children died in the past 24 hours till Monday morning—15 from measles-related symptoms and two from confirmed measles cases.
With the latest fatalities, the combined death toll from measles and related symptoms has reached 311 since the outbreak began on 15 March this year.
In addition, Bangladesh recorded 1,302 new suspected cases and 154 confirmed cases of measles in a 24-hour span, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) health bulletin.
The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 5,467, while suspected cases have reached 41,793.
During the same period, 52 people have died from confirmed measles, while 259 deaths have been reported among suspected cases.
Besides, a total of 25,151 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
The measles situation in Bangladesh has worsened amid a surge in suspected and confirmed cases, as well as fatalities.
