A Dhaka court on Monday ordered that former lawmaker Tamanna Nusrat Bubly be shown arrested in a case filed with Tejgaon Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Mohammad Junaid passed the order following a petition filed by police, said state prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruqui.
Earlier, on 29 April, the investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Shafiqur Rahman of Tejgaon Police Station, filed the application. The court later fixed Monday for the hearing.
According to the case statement, on 7 September 2025, the activities-banned Bangladesh Awami League and its affiliated bodies carried out an unlawful procession with banners in the Monipuripara area under Tejgaon Police Station in the capital.
At that time, two cocktails were detonated in succession with the intention of destabilising the state and creating panic among the public.
The accused attempted to flee the sensing of police presence, during which 10 individuals were arrested, while 30–40 unidentified activists escaped. Following the incident, a case was filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
It is noteworthy that Tamanna Nusrat Bubly was arrested by police from Mirpur in the capital on 28 September last year and has remained in custody since then.
