Mushfiqur Rahim pumped his fist in the air at Sylhet Academy Ground yesterday, having executed a scoop to complete his 20th first-class ton during the NCL game for Sylhet, against Dhaka. All three NCL games that went to the fourth day, however ended in draws.
Rajshahi, courtesy of their seven-wicket win on Tuesday, were the only team to secure a victory in the second round of the ongoing NCL.
Mushfiqur reached his ton in 179 deliveries as Sylhet added 30 runs more before their innings folded for 290. Ripon Mondol bagged four for 50 in the innings for Dhaka. Jishan Alam, who missed out on a ton against Rangpur in the first round, yesterday fell for 94 in Dhaka's second innings. Dhaka declared at 222 for 2 and Sylhet reached 13 for no loss as the match was drawn.
With day three mostly hindered by rain, Chattogram and Barishal also produced a drawn match at Cox's Bazar International Stadium. Barishal's Salman Hossain Emon hit an unbeaten 120 off 242 deliveries before Barishal declared on 259 for four.
Chattogram tried to force a result by declaring on 35 for no loss, setting a 135-run target but match ended in an expected draw as Barishal reached 19 for no loss.
Rangpur held on for a draw at Cox's Bazar Academy Ground. Beginning the inning at 18 for 2, Rangpur were bowled out for 127 with Arif Ahmed bagging three for 28 while Abu Hider Rony and Shohidul Islam took two apiece.
Mymensingh's first innings total of 555 for 6 declared, meant that Rangpur had to follow-on but they fared better in the second innings with Abdullah Al Mamun hitting 69 as Rangpur reached 112 for 2 at close. The third round of the NCL will begin on November 8.
