A thick blanket of fog covered Rajshahi on Monday morning, signaling the gradual arrival of winter in the northern district. The sun rose at 6:14 am, but it was not until around 7:30 am that faint rays managed to pierce through the misty sky.
According to the Rajshahi Meteorological Office, the lowest temperature recorded at 6:00 am was 22.2°C, with air humidity at 97 percent. On Sunday, the minimum temperature stood slightly higher at 22.4°C, indicating a subtle but steady decline.
From Thursday to Saturday, the region experienced several bouts of rainfall, totaling 60 millimeters, accompanied by gusty winds. As the rains subsided, residents began to sense a noticeable chill in the air, especially during the fog-laden mornings.
An observer at the Rajshahi Meteorological Office said the recent weather changes are early signs of the approaching winter.
“It rained a few days ago, and after the rainfall, the minimum temperature dropped. This morning’s fog is a clear indication that winter is on its way,” he said.
Locals have welcomed the cooler mornings after weeks of warm and humid weather, while many expect the temperature to dip further in the coming days as winter slowly sets in across northern Bangladesh.
