All three children tragically died. The father was rescued in a life-threatening condition and admitted to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday in Rajni Line village of Uttar Barodal Union of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, the father poisoned his three children and himself at some point in the night. Upon being informed of the matter in the morning, neighbors and relatives quickly rescued them and took them to Dr. Hafiz Uddin Complex in Badaghat Bazar. The doctor on duty there declared all three children dead after conducting examinations. Since the father's condition was critical, he was sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.
Badaghat Police Investigation Center In-charge Hossain Mohammad Arafat said, "We received the news early in the morning and reached Dr. Hafiz Uddin Complex in Badaghat Bazar. I went to Hafiz Uddin Complex and found the bodies of three children. The seriously injured father was taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital by his relatives. The bodies of the children are being recovered and sent to Tahirpur Upazila Health Complex for autopsy.”
