Unidentified people hurled crude bombs next to the main gate of the Supreme Court on Tuesday noon, shortly after the International Crime Tribunal-2 announced the death penalty for a number of top leaders from Awami League.
No casualty or damage was reported in the incident.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman said two unidentified youths approached the SC front gate around 1:18pm and hurled crude bombs targeting the gate.
They quickly fled the scene, he added.
Police are trying to identify the suspects by reviewing the CCTV footage, and have beefed up presence around the Supreme Court area, the police officer said.
The bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has collected evidence from the spot of the bomb blast, he added.
Earlier, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced seven leaders from Awami League and its affiliated organisations, all of which are now banned from undertaking political activities, to death for committing crimes against humanity during the July Uprising.
