File PhotoThe price of 22-carat gold in Bangladesh fell by Tk 2,216 per bhori on Sunday, bringing the price down to Tk 2,35,146 per bhori, including VAT, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association said.
The revised price came into effect at 10:00am, according to a BAJUS notification. The association said the adjustment was made in line with changes in the local market price of refined gold.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk 2,24,590 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will be sold at Tk 1,92,864 per bhori.
The price of gold made through the traditional method has been set at Tk 1,57,522 per bhori.
Before Sunday's cut, BAJUS on September 3 raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,482 per bhori to Tk 2,37,362. On September 2, it had cut the price by Tk 4,374 to Tk 2,31,880.
Gold prices have been revised 112 times in the local market so far this year, with 56 increases, 55 decreases and one adjustment for VAT, according to BAJUS.
Meanwhile, silver prices remained unchanged.
A bhori of 22-carat silver, including VAT, is currently priced at Tk 5,132. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver are Tk 4,957, Tk 4,257 and Tk 3,208 per bhori respectively.
Silver prices have been revised 68 times so far this year, with 35 increases and 33 decreases.
