Customs officials have recovered 80 gold bars weighing around 9.33 kilograms from a Flydubai aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The estimated value of the seized gold is around Tk 20 crore.

Dhaka Customs House Additional Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan confirmed the matter on Thursday. 

He said customs officials conducted the raid around 10:00 pm Wednesday based on a tip-off and recovered the gold. They found 80 gold bars wrapped in scotch tape under one of the aircraft seats.

A case was filed with the airport police station. No suspect has been arrested so far.

The Customs House is working to identify those involved and investigating their possible links to the gold smuggling operation
