Three children drowned in separate incidents in rivers in Thakurgaon on Wednesday. The bodies of two children were recovered from the Tirnoi River in Ranisankail upazila, while another child’s body was recovered from the Bhulli River.According to police and locals, Kausar Ali, 5, and Rehesan, 4, sons of Abul Kalam and Zahid Hasan, respectively, went missing while playing near home in Jagdal village, Dharmagarh Union, Ranisankail. Locals later found their bodies in the Tirnoi River.
Ranisankail Police Station OC Amanullah Al Bari said the families didn't want post-mortem exams. The bodies were given to the families for burial; separate unnatural death cases were filed.
Another incident occurred in which five-year-old Md Hossain drowned in the Bhulli River, Bangrot village, Shukhanpukur Union, Bhulli upazila. He was the son of Jahangir Alam.
Locals said Hossain went to the river area near the new bridge at Suij Gate while playing with other kids. He fell into the river by accident and drowned. Family members and locals found his body after a search.
Bhulli Police Station OC Nure Alam Siddiqui said the child drowned after going to the riverbank without his family noticing. Since the family didn't complain, the body was given to the relatives.
