Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin has urged government officials and relevant agencies to ensure the quality of ongoing development projects and strengthen coordination among government departments to provide public services effectively.
He made the remarks while presiding over the monthly meeting of the District Development Coordination Committee at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room at 10:30 am on Tuesday (August 18).
The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing development activities across the district and discussed measures to improve the quality of public services and strengthen coordination among government agencies.
Among the key issues discussed were improving the district's power supply, increasing the use of solar energy, progress on the construction of the Basonda Bridge and the New Kuri Project, renovation of roads under the Cultural Village Project, and bringing more roads under development initiatives.
The meeting also emphasized strengthening the canal-cleaning campaign, ensuring the effective use of development funds, intensifying dengue prevention activities and ensuring necessary medical treatment for dengue patients at Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital.
Various issues concerning the livestock sector were also discussed. The meeting stressed the need to control stray dogs and cats, ensure rabies vaccination for dogs and take necessary measures to control the reproduction of stray dogs.
The participants also discussed ways to make the ongoing jatka conservation campaign more effective to protect fisheries resources. Emphasis was placed on increasing coordination among relevant government departments in implementing development projects across the district.

Aman Ullah Sarkar, Executive Engineer of LGED Jhalakathi Kazi Mahmudullah, District Livestock Officer Nirodh Baran Joydhar, District Fisheries Officer Md. Enamul Haque, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Segufta Mehnaz, Rajapur Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Ara Mauri, Nalchiti Upazila Executive Officer Pratik Kumar Kundu, District Information Officer Lelin Bala, and heads and representatives of various government departments attended the meeting.
In his concluding remarks, Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin said public interest must be given the highest priority in implementing development projects. He directed officials concerned to ensure the quality of ongoing projects and sincerely perform their responsibilities so that work is completed within the stipulated time.
He also called on government departments to work in a more coordinated, transparent and accountable manner to ensure that public services are delivered according to the expectations of the people.
