The monthly meeting of the District Development Coordination Committee was held in Jhalakathi. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of ongoing development activities in the district, improving the quality of public services and strengthening coordination among government departments.
The meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room at 10:30 am on Tuesday (August 18) and was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin.
During the meeting, discussions were held on improving the district’s power situation, increasing the use of solar power, the progress of the Basonda Bridge construction, the new Kuri project, road renovation under the Cultural Village project and bringing various roads under development projects.
In addition, emphasis was given to strengthening the canal cleaning campaign, ensuring effective utilization of development funds, dengue prevention activities and providing necessary medical services for dengue patients at Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital.
The meeting also discussed various issues related to the livestock sector. Special importance was given to controlling stray dogs and cats, ensuring rabies vaccination for dogs and taking necessary measures to control the birth of stray dogs.
To conserve fisheries resources, the meeting emphasized making the ongoing Jatka conservation campaign more effective. The participants also stressed increasing coordination among the concerned government departments for the proper implementation of various development projects in the district.
The meeting was attended by Jhalakathi Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Deputy Director of the Local Government Branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Julia Sukayna, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) SM Bayezid Ibne Akbar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Touhidul Islam, Superintendent of Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital Dr. Masum Iftekhar, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Md. Aman Ullah Sarkar, Executive Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Jhalakathi Kazi Mahmudullah, District Livestock Officer Nirodh Baran Joydhar, District Fisheries Officer Md. Enamul Haque, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Segufta Mehnaz, Rajapur Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Ara Mauri, Nalchiti Upazila Executive Officer Pratik Kumar Kundu, District Information Officer Lelin Bala and other heads and representatives of various government departments.
At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin said that public interest must be given the highest priority in implementing development projects. He emphasized ensuring the quality of ongoing projects and instructed the concerned authorities to sincerely fulfill their responsibilities to complete the work within the scheduled time. He also directed government departments to work in a more coordinated and accountable manner to provide services according to public expectations.
