A new BOP named “Madhupara BOP” of BGB has been formally inaugurated by hoisting the flag at Harivasa border in Panchagarh.
Today, Thursday at 10 am, Brigadier General ASM Nasher, PSC, G+, Region Commander, North West Region, Rangpur, inaugurated “Madhupara BOP” as the chief guest. Thakurgaon Sector Commander Sector Commander Mohammad Saruj Mia, Nilphamari 56 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Taifur Hasan Mahmud, 56 BGB Deputy Commander, Major Kazi Asif Ahmed and other BGB officials were present.
In his speech as the chief guest, he said that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been working tirelessly as a symbol of border security and trust and has been protecting the country’s borders 24/7 day and night. In continuation of this, Nilphamari Battalion (56 BGB) under BGB, North West Region, Rangpur is very efficiently performing the responsibility of protecting the border of about 141.787 km in the north-western part of the country.
Since the distance between Tokapara and Ghagra BOPs of this battalion is long, “Madhupara BOP” was established in view of the need to establish “Madhupara BOP” at a place called Madhupara to prevent smuggling and protect the border.
The Region Commander also said that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been playing an important role in protecting the country’s border security, sovereignty and legal process in the event of push-in from India into Bangladesh. In the Pushin incident, the BGB took a firm stand to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the country’s borders.
The BGB is working relentlessly to ensure national security through strict surveillance at the border, prevention of illegal infiltration, flag meetings, diplomatic contacts and following legal procedures. In addition, the BGB, as a ‘three-dimensional’ force, is playing a unique role in protecting the country’s borders, assisting the civil administration in maintaining law and order, and in public welfare work.
The Region Commander said that like in the past, in the future too, the local people, journalists and civil society will extend this hand of cooperation to us. He opined that with the joint efforts of all of us, we will be able to maintain peaceful coexistence in the border areas including border security through the newly established “Madhupara BOP” and sought everyone’s cooperation in providing objective information to the BGB to properly discharge its responsibilities and duties of protecting the country’s borders.
Finally, he planted a sapling on the premises of BOP and prayed to Almighty Allah for the welfare of BOPT. Media personnel were present at the time.
