The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in several areas of the capital to help maintain normal law and order.
According to a statement issued by the BGB Public Relations Department on Tuesday, BGB personnel have been stationed at multiple points in Dhaka, including Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, Abrar Fahad Avenue, Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Mohakhali.
Earlier, BGB was also deployed in five districts of the country-Cox’s Bazar, Madaripur, Sherpur, Gazipur and Moulvibazar. A statement from BGB headquarters issued on Monday evening confirmed the deployment.
It added that, under instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, BGB has been deployed to help maintain internal law and order and address potential security risks.
The deployed personnel will work in coordination with local administrations and other law enforcement agencies from Monday evening until June 30.
The statement also said BGB members will remain on standby for immediate deployment in other districts if required.
