Police have recovered the body of a 27-year-old trader from the Shitalakshya River in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, two days after he went missing.
Naeem Hasan's body was found this morning with his hands and legs tied, said Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahinur Alam.
He hailed from Boro Nol village under Bormi union in Sreepur and ran a raw materials business at Bormi Bazar, alongside a private fish farming project.
The OC said locals spotted a body floating near Sheikh-er-Ghat, behind a women’s madrasa in Barkul village, around 9:00am and informed authorities. Officers later recovered the body from the river.
OC Shahinur said the body had multiple injury marks.
Quoting family members, he said Naeem left home around 11:00pm on Tuesday with a torchlight to check on his fish farm and did not return. His father later filed a general diary.
The body has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said OC Shahinur, adding that an investigation is underway.
