The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) confirmed that the National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCCC) has granted final approval to feature the chapter in the "Bangla Sahitya" textbook for Classes 9 and 10.
The decision, taken during a ministry meeting chaired by the Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary on Aug 24, aims to present a neutral history of the Liberation War. A photo of a historical diary from that period will also accompany the entry.
The author profile section introduces Ziaur Rahman as the declarer of independence, former president, army chief, commander of Z Force, Sector 1 commander, and Bir Uttam recipient. The textbook context highlights the roles of key historical figures, including Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq, Maulana Bhashani, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ziaur Rahman, and Tajuddin Ahmad.
In the article, Ziaur Rahman recalls the moments leading up to the armed resistance in March 1971, including his famous statement "We Revolt" in Chittagong and the events at the Kalurghat transmission center on March 27. Educationalists and experts noted that the inclusion will allow students to learn objective details about the declaration of independence and early wartime struggles.
